I’m Michael McCormack, the founder of Chase and Gather. I’m a keen deer stalker, game bird hunter, spearo, fisho and passionate about keeping active in the outdoors.

My all-round favourites are the rugged, reliable and robust full-high-lace-up Crispi Hunter GTX. They are the best boots I’ve ever owned, without a doubt. Superbly comfortable, super watertight, with exceptional ankle support and stability, they can take a real hammering, with features such as the full lace-up lock system and high-rise rubber rand. The wide fit was also another reason I chose the Hunter GTX. They are very well suited to those with wide feet, as the leather allows for expansion of the toe box.

Whether it’s chasing Tahr in the Southern Alps or chasing Sika through dense, damp lowlands, the boots deliver all-day comfort. I’ve carried loads for hours of up to 60kg, and the boots handle it comfortably.

If the adventure calls for a lighter-weight boot, then the Futura CX EFX gets the call-up. These boots have been ideal for warmer weather and longer enduro hikes, which aren’t so heavy on the loadouts, and being lighter, you save more energy. It is quite noticeable.

One thing that has really impressed me so far is that they provide very solid ankle support and cushioning for a comfortable day on the hills. The grip and traction factor is also impressive!"
